HONOLULU – August 31, 2009 – John Votsis has been appointed director of sales and marketing at Trump International Hotel™ Waikiki Beach Walk®. He joined the management team in May 2009 to prepare for the hotel’s November 2009 opening. In this position, Votsis will lead the sales and marketing efforts for the luxury property.

A New York native, Votsis began his career in the travel industry with American Airlines where he held various management positions in customer service and sales and marketing. He arrived in Hawaii in 1983 when he was named regional sales and marketing manager for American Honolulu. After 20 years with American Airlines, Votsis joined Hilton Resorts Hawaii as regional director of sales and marketing where he was responsible for resorts on Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii’s Big Island. Votsis then moved on to hold the same position with Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw 17 resorts throughout the Hawaiian Islands and French Polynesia with Starwood properties in Papeete, Mo'orea and Bora Bora. Most recently, he served as vice president of sales for Aloha Airlines.

Votsis is an active member of Hawaii’s visitor industry, having served on several boards and committees including the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Hawaii Visitor’s & Convention Bureau, where he served on the board of directors and the marketing committee for much of the past two decades. Since its inception in the mid‐1980s, Votsis has been a member of the Oahu Visitors Bureau (OVB) Marketing Committee, and at one time held the position of chairman of the organization.

An active community member, he is also involved with the University of Hawaii’s College of Business Marketing Committee and the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee. Raised and educated in New York City, John now resides with his wife in Honolulu.
